More information

The Rezi vineyard, located just ten minutes from Keszthely, is not just a hillside on the border of the Balaton Uplands and Zala County, but a unique little world that locals affectionately call 'Rieslingland'. This name is no coincidence. For decades, olaszrizling has been a defining grape variety in the area, but compared to other wine regions of the country, it takes on a distinctive character here. The region boasts an exceptional microclimate: the south-facing slopes are ideal for viticulture, and the proximity to the Alps makes the area wetter than average. The influence of nearby Lake Balaton and the Zala Hills ensures balanced humidity, cooler nights, and a longer ripening period – all of which contribute to the wines' refined acidity and aromatic richness. What makes the Rezi vineyard truly special is that it is home to small-scale, artisanal wineries rather than industrial-scale production. The winemakers personally tend to the vines, taste, ferment, and bottle their wines, each employing their own unique viticulture and winemaking techniques. Alongside classic varieties like olaszrizling, pinot gris, and blaufränkisch, more and more winemakers are planting unique or traditional Hungarian varieties such as nektár, zengő, and rozália.

Czimondor Winery – Viticulture in Harmony with Nature

István Czimondor grew up immersed in the craft of winemaking, as his ancestors were already cultivating grapes here on the Rezi vineyard. He inherited not only the current plots but also a love of nature, the traditions of viticulture, and the fundamentals of winemaking from his family.
The cellar's offerings include the indispensable olaszrizling, as well as muscat, pinot gris, rozália, and blaufränkisch, enriching the selection.
Some of the wines are aged in tanks, while others mature in oak barrels. István produces only as much of each variety as he can carefully manage – ensuring that the wines are always from fresh vintages, in small batches, and easy to drink. The selection may vary by vintage, but the core varieties are consistently available.
Czimondor Winery's wines embody the essence of Rezi – and when you taste them, you'll feel it too.
