AllAdventure with Responsibility
We believe that travel can be a transformative and positive experience for both travelers and the destinations they visit. However, with great adventures comes great responsibility.
Sustainability, simply put, means making choices that have a positive impact on the environment, local communities, and society as a whole. We aim to travel in a way that leaves the world in a better condition than we found it. At I-DEST, we are committed to helping you make informed decisions that align with these principles.
As you explore the services featured on this page, you will discover how our partners strive for sustainability. We will show you their level of sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) they support. But this is about more than just symbols and labels. Sustainability is a journey in itself, and we are here to accompany you every step of the way. Discover how you can travel responsibly, minimize your environmental footprint, support local cultures, and contribute to a better world.

AllMake an informed decision!
Choosing sustainable destinations and services plays a crucial role in ensuring that travel is not just an experience but also a force for positive change. By opting for sustainable destinations, we can reduce our ecological footprint, as these locations are committed to protecting natural resources, improving energy efficiency, and minimizing waste. Supporting local communities allows travelers to directly contribute to strengthening the local economy, creating jobs, and preserving cultural heritage. As a result, travel offers not only authentic experiences for visitors but also long-term benefits for local communities.
How Do We Measure Sustainability?
At i-dest.com, sustainability in tourism is assessed through a transparent methodology aligned with internationally recognised principles. The evaluation is based on the criteria of the GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council), which examine environmental, social, economic and governance aspects, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). All destinations, attractions and service providers are assessed using a unified framework. The results are presented through a 1–4 level sustainability rating, offering a quick and comparable overview of overall performance, while also showing percentage scores by thematic area to highlight strengths and areas for improvement.
In addition to numerical and visual indicators, I-DEST places strong emphasis on clear, accessible explanations. For each location, we describe what the destination or service provider actively does to support sustainability—such as nature conservation, support for local communities or responsible operations—and what visitors can do to make conscious, environmentally and socially responsible choices during their travels.

Slow travel, maximum experience: Why you'll regret not cycling on your holiday this year 2026 June 03 Most holidays start the same way: stress at the airport check-in desk, endless traffic jams on the way to the beach, and the hopeless battle for overpriced parking spaces. What if this summer you let go of all that and switched to a pace where the holiday doesn't start when you arrive, but with the very first metre? Slow travel isn't just a boring hippie trend; it's the recipe for genuine, quality experiences – and the best tool for that is a bicycle.

The Treasure Beneath Our Feet: Why Soil Protection is the Foundation of Conscious Hiking 2026 May 31 When we grab our backpacks and set off to explore the world, our gaze is often fixed on the horizon. The surrounding mountain peaks, dense forests, and rugged valleys easily make us forget that the greatest natural treasure actually lies directly beneath our feet. Protecting forests and mountains isn’t just about picking up litter; preserving the invisible balance depends on respecting the soil and vegetation.

Passport to Change: How Can We Fight Poverty as Travellers?
