Hévíz Tours / Villa Walk in Costume

During this themed walk, a guide dressed in period costume takes us on a journey 100 years back in time. We learn about the history of the villas, discover who their owners were, and get a glimpse into the social life of Hévíz during the Belle Époque.

At the turn of the century, Hévíz, like many traditional spa towns, saw the construction of magnificent villas. The town's development continued uninterrupted during the Belle Époque and between the two World Wars. Several buildings were commissioned as private investments by the spa's tenant, Vencel Reischl Jr. Fortunately, many villas, such as the buildings of the St. Andrew Rheumatology Hospital, remain almost unchanged and can still be admired. Several villas now operate as hotels or guesthouses. Often, we pass by these buildings without a second glance, but during our walk, we will stop to marvel at their facades and, with the help of photographs, recall the town's former appearance and the history of the villas.
