In Miskolc, there’s a place where cobblestone streets lead to centuries-old wine cellars, and every sip of wine carries a piece of history. This place is the Avas, which you can discover on our special experience tour!
The sightseeing walk starts at the Tourinform office, then continues through the bustling city centre, passing by the lively Szinva Terrace area and the Miskolc National Theatre building, where a unique love story comes to life. After a short walk, we leave the city’s hustle and bustle behind and arrive in nature, among the charming cellars of the Avas, where you’ll discover a completely different atmosphere of Miskolc.
Narrow streets, old press houses, and a unique world await you on the Avasi Wine Cellar Row, home to nearly 800 cellars that tell the story of Miskolc’s former wine trade and production heritage. In this former entertainment district, you’ll walk in the footsteps of renowned writers such as Zsigmond Móricz and Ferenc Móra, and learn about the secret rendezvous witnessed by the cellar walls.

- Wine tasting
- Stories and legends of the Avasi Wine Cellar Row
- A closing toast with a glass of wine at the lookout, offering a stunning panorama
Participating wineries:
- Sándor Zsolt Winery
- Gonda Winery
- Mayor’s Cellar – Gallay Wine
At the end of the programme, we’ll toast at the top of the legendary Avasi Lookout, with the city lights and the view completing the experience. The walk leads back to Erzsébet Square via the Avasi Reformed Church and the historic cemetery garden.

Duration: approximately 3.5 hours
The sightseeing walk and cellar tour will only take place with a minimum of 10 paying participants. If the programme is cancelled due to insufficient numbers, the participation fee will be refunded or rescheduled to another date upon request.
