Hévíz Tours / Poets, Writers, and Love Stories in Hévíz

On our new sightseeing walk, we follow in the footsteps of poets and writers who came to Hévíz seeking peace, healing, and inspiration. The plaques and statues come to life, sharing marvellous words and poems from the pens of renowned authors.

During our walk, we’ll talk about the poets and writers who have created and continue to create in Hévíz, such as Zsigmond Móricz, Lőrinc Szabó, Csokonai, or Berzsenyi. We’ll discover how they spent their time here and what left them in awe. We’ll also explore why a town famous for its thermal lake could become a hub of culture. We’ll discuss how, 32 years ago, the Hévíz literary journal representing contemporary literature was launched here, and how the Csokonai Society has been a steadfast cultural institution for 38 years. Those who enjoy lighter genres will also find something of interest, as the town is now home to a well-known crime writer. Additionally, we’ll share some delightful and insightful children’s stories about Hévíz, penned by local authors.

This walk is recommended for those who love literature, as well as for those who may not have been fond of this art form but are fans of Hévíz and would like to discover another side of the town.
