The history of Miskolc's Tiszai Railway Station is closely intertwined with the development of Hungarian railways. The original station was built in 1859 in English Romantic style as part of the eastern line of the Tiszavidéki Railway, and over time it was expanded and remodelled several times. Based on Ferenc Pfaff's 1901 designs, the building underwent significant expansion, retaining its original Romantic elements and gaining a longer façade adorned with towers. Due to the differences between the two main stations, the other station in the city was named Gömöri, while Tiszai Railway Station received its current name during the centenary celebrations in 1959. One of the most distinctive features of the station was the three-track wooden hall, which was dismantled in 1916. The building suffered significant damage during the Second World War and underwent further modifications during electrification in 1963, followed by a complete renovation in 2003. Memorable moments in the history of Tiszai Railway Station include the arrival of the first express train between Budapest and Miskolc in 1936 and the introduction of InterCity services in 1991. For a long time, the station was an important transport hub, even celebrated in a song by the band Kispál és a Borz. The popular chocolate roll from the Utasellátó buffet and the dining options at the resti evoke many memories, as do the Sunday journeys of students heading to their dormitories. The countless passengers and memories passing through Tiszai Railway Station have all contributed to its unique atmosphere.
