Since 2008, the Municipality of Doboz has been organising the Dobozi Honey Festival, a village fair held in the stunning natural surroundings of the Doboz Castle Park. The Festival is a recurring two-day cultural, artistic, and gastronomic event series centred around the theme of honey, featuring a well-publicised programme. The aim of the event is to provide its audience with a high-quality, value-driven, educational, and entertaining community leisure experience. The theme of the event is inspired by beekeeping, a profession rooted in the historical past of the village, and the celebration of our national treasure associated with it – real Hungarian honey. The essence of the Honey Festival can perhaps be summed up in four words: 'preserve, nurture, safeguard, and pass on' everything we have received as a priceless heritage and gift from our ancestors. A key objective is to preserve values and maintain traditions. The programme is enriched by depictions of traditional lifestyles, craft activities, folk traditions, and equestrian displays. The festival offers great entertainment for every member of the family, with a variety of shows and activities to choose from. The goal is for the younger generation to learn about the traditions and customs of their ancestors, both in everyday life and during celebrations, while the older generation reminisces about the old days. The event takes place every year on the first weekend of July in the Doboz Castle Park, infused with an authentic festival atmosphere and the warm hospitality of Doboz.
